First meeting of 2013

Hi everyone,

our first meeting for 2013 will be Monday 25th February 10-1 at the Chermside Public Library. Please RSVP if you can come. All new members welcome.

Meeting 2 - improvised cross blocks

Today at our gathering, we had fun designing and sewing our improved cross blocks. We even threw in some curved piecing which was for some their first time.

Our next meeting will be at Chermside Library, Friday 21st Sept 2012 at 10am. All welcome.
If you are bringing your machines, make sure they are electrically certified and tagged.

Next meeting of the NBMQG

Our next meeting will be meeting at Chermside Library, Meeting Room 1 at 10am on Friday 31st August 2012.

Jessica is scheduled to show us improvised stars. Please bring your sewing machine, notions and a FQ for background plus some extra large scraps for the stars. If Jessica is unavailable to conduct the session I will show you all how to do improvisational crosses using straight and curved piecing.

Chermside Library require that all sewing machines and other electrical devices must be checked and certified before use at the library. I had an electrician perform the certification. It only lasts 6 months.

Our first meeting

We had our first meeting at the Chermside Library Meeting rooms. They were fantastic for hosting a small groups of sewing enthusiasts.

Our first meeting focused on getting to know each other and our interpretations of modern/contemporary quilting and show n tell ( we did spend a little time on planning ).

They are such a lovely and talented bunch of girls.

Kate gathered some orange, yellow and turquoise and made
crosses and HST's the night before. Now to plan the layout.

the signature blocks on the back.

As I was cleverly in charge of the camera so I did not get in any of the photos. My show n tell involved the 'Man of Cloth', Desperate Housewife's and Flockwave quilts.

Our group will meet every two months at the library and we will explore together the concepts and techniques of modern quilting. Jessica has volunteered to show us how to modernise the star block so this will be a hands on session.
